There is lots of appeal to try these extreme crash diets because almost all of use would like to lose lots of weight fast. There are ways to lose weight in a nice steady manner that will stay off when you reach your weight. Losing weight from water is not the goal you want to lose fat.

Most diets will work if you follow them. There may be different reasons why each one works but the bottom line is that if you reduce your calories you will begin losing weight. But what can happen is that with most diets you begin losing muscle as you are not supporting your muscle.

Fad or extreme diets are not usually all they are made out to be. After all much of the diet industry is about money. What you find is that many people who try these diets end up losing more muscle then fat. Muscle is the main fat or calorie burning part of your body. You want to preserve your muscle mass and even increase it so your body will be better at burning fat.

To better facilitate a more healthy approach to weight loss you need to get a baseline on your metabolism. How many calories do you need to maintain your current weight? Once you determine this value then you can reduce that amount by around 400 calories every couple of weeks as your fat gets burned up. This will give you a much better way of losing weight.

But if you stop here your weight loss will come slowly. To help you speed things up you want to begin an exercise program designed to help burn fat and build muscle. To burn your fat you will want to begin a high intensity interval training program three days a week. This will be your cardio workout.
