Here’s a three day diet sure to take off pounds. But remember, it has to be part of an overall eating plan and should not be maintained for more than three days.

For day on breakfast consists of black coffee or tea with (Sweet & Low or Equal) or a glass of water, one half Grapefruit or eight oz Juice, and 1 slice toast with 1 Tbsp. Peanut Butter. Lunch is one half Cup of Tuna on 1 slice of toast and black coffee or tea (sweetened with Sweet & Low or Equal) or a glass of water. Dinner consists of three oz. of a lean meat, 1 cup of green beans, a cup of carrots, 1 cup of vanilla ice cream, one medium apple, and to drink as usual black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or a glass of water.

Day two breakfast consists of black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or water, One egg cooked any style, one piece of toast, and 1 banana. Lunch consists of one cup of cottage cheese or tuna, five saltine crackers, and black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or water. Dinner consists of 2 beef franks or hot dogs, one half cup of carrots,one banana, one cup of broccoli or cabbage, one half cup of vanilla ice cream, and black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or water.

And finally for day three breakfast includes black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or a glass of water, five plain saltine crackers, 1 ounce (slice) cheddar cheese, and one apple. Lunch includes one hard boiled egg, 1 slice of toast, and black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or a glass of water. Dinner consists of 1 cup of tuna, one cup of carrots, one cup of cauliflower, 1 cup of melon, a half cup of regular vanilla ice cream, and black coffee or tea (with Sweet & Low or Equal) or a glass of water.

Lemons, salt and pepper, and mustard can be used as desired. You can also make substitutions such as cottage cheese for tuna, an orange for grapefruit, and frozen yogurt for ice cream. Keep in mind that this fast weight loss diet is a 3 day diet, only to be eaten in conjunction with an overall healthy diet. Consider asking the local hospital for their version of a low calorie diet.

The Subway Diet

Everyone is familiar with the Subway Diet featuring Jared, the guy who lost 245 pounds in a year by walking and replacing two meals a day with Subway sandwiches. If you ever wanted to know how this whole thing got started, keep reading.

Jared Fogle worked his way through college by working at an adult book store.  Like many people he sat around too much and ate too many snacks – his habits causing him to balloon to 425 pounds.  Finally Jared understood that he was in trouble unless he could lose some weight.

None of the diets he tried worked – he couldn’t stick to them|He tried and failed with many diets because he had too much time and too much temptation to cheat.  But then he found a Subway shop near his dorm.  The seed of the Subway diet was planted.  He immediately stopped eating breakfast while walking the 1 ½ miles to Subway for lunch and dinner – a sandwich, baked chips and a diet soda.  He went from consuming 10,000 calories daily to about 900, while adding a 6 mile hike to his daily routing.  One year later Jared’s Subway diet had melted 245 pounds from his frame.

How did this Subway diet become a national ad campaign for the Subway chain|OK, but how did it become a commercial success? One day Jared bumped into a buddy who was a reporter for the school paper.  He didn’t recognize Jared at first, and when he heard the weight loss story decided to write an article about it. It was then incorporated into a Men’s Health magazine story about crazy diets that shed pounds.  When a Chicago Subway owner read the story he contacted his advertising agency about making it into an ad.  When the Chicago guys tried to get funding from the national advertising agency for a campaign, they were told it would bomb, so they funded it themselves for a local run in Chicago.

Needless to say the Subway diet became a huge hit.  It was a natural for Chicago based Oprah to feature Jared and his Subway diet on her popular national show.  Now it was the national agency’s turn to ask about running the ads around the country.

Versions of the Mediterranean diet are recommended by the American Heart Association.
