Why excess abdominal fat is more DEADLY than you think

help change your body

Hello-

Below is an article contributed by Mike Geary, the founder of TruthAboutAbs.com. I thought this was an important topic to share with you because the reality is that most people simply don’t realize how dangerous their excess abdominal fat really is to their health.

The Hidden Dangers of Your Excess Abdominal Fat - It’s More Serious Than a Vanity Issue!

by Mike Geary, Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer

Did you know that the vast majority of people in this day and age have excess abdominal fat? The first thing that most people think of is that their extra abdominal fat is simply ugly, is covering up their abs from being visible, and makes them self conscious about showing off their body.

However, what most people don’t realize is that excess abdominal fat in particular, is not only ugly, but is also a dangerous risk factor to your health. Scientific research has clearly demonstrated that although it is unhealthy in general to have excess body fat throughout your body, it is also particularly dangerous to have excess abdominal fat.

There are two types of fat that you have in your abdominal area. The first type that covers up your abs from being visible is called subcutaneous fat and lies directly beneath the skin and on top of the abdominal muscles.

The second type of fat that you have in your abdominal area is called visceral fat, and that lies deeper in the abdomen beneath your muscle and surrounding your organs. Visceral fat also plays a role in giving certain men that “beer belly” appearance where their abdomen protrudes excessively but at the same time, also feels sort of hard if you push on it.

Both subcutaneous fat and visceral fat in the abdominal area are serious health risk factors, but science has shown that having excessive visceral fat is even more dangerous than subcutaneous fat. Both of them greatly increase the risk your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases.

Part of the reason visceral fat is particularly dangerous is that it apparently releases more inflammatory molecules into your body on a consistent basis.

If you care about the quality of your life and your loved ones, reducing your abdominal fat should be one of your TOP priorities! There’s just no way around it. Besides, a side-effect of finally getting rid of all of that excessive ugly abdominal fat is that your stomach will flatten out, and if you lose enough stomach fat, you will be able to visibly see those sexy six pack abs that everyone wants.

So what gets rid of extra abdominal fat? Is there actually a REAL solution beyond all of the gimmicks and hype that you see in ads and on commercials for “miracle” fat loss products?

The first thing you must understand is that there is absolutely NO quick fix solution. There are no pills or supplements of any sort that will help you lose your abdominal fat faster. Also, none of the gimmicky ab rockers, rollers, or ab belts will help get rid of abdominal fat either. You can’t spot reduce your stomach fat by using any of these worthless contraptions. It simply doesn’t work that way.

The ONLY solution to consistently lose your abdominal fat and keep it off for good is to combine a sound nutritious diet full of unprocessed natural foods with a properly designed strategic exercise program that stimulates the necessary hormonal and metabolic response within your body. Both your food intake as well as your training program are important if you are to get this right.

I’ve actually even seen a particular study that divided thousands of participants into a diet-only group and an exercise/diet group. While both groups in this study made good progress, the diet-only group lost significantly LESS abdominal fat than the diet & exercise combined group.

Now the important thing to realize is that just any old exercise program will not necessarily do the trick. The majority of people that attempt getting into a good exercise routine are NOT working out effectively enough to really stimulate the loss of stubborn abdominal fat. I see this everyday at the gym.

Most people will do your typical boring ineffective cardio routines, throw in a little outdated body-part style weight training, and pump away with some crunches and side bends, and think that they are doing something useful for reducing their abdominal fat. Then they become frustrated after weeks or months of no results and wonder where they went wrong.

Well, the good news is that I’ve spent over a decade researching this topic, analyzing the science, and applying it “in the trenches” with myself as well as thousands of my clients from all over the world to see what works to really stimulate abdominal fat loss.

The entire solution… all of the nutritional strategies, as well as training sequences, exercise combinations, and more have all been compiled in my Truth About Six Pack Abs Program.

Keep in mind that the point of this whole program is NOT abdominal exercises (that is only a very small portion of it). The main point of this program is showing you the absolute most effective strategies for losing your stubborn abdominal fat, so you can get rid of that dangerous health risk, as well as get a flatter more defined midsection.

If you follow the guidelines, you WILL lose your belly fat that has been plaguing you for years. This is not guesswork… it is a proven system that works time and time again for all of my clients on every corner of the globe that actually apply the information I teach. If you apply it, the results will come. It’s really that simple.

The only reason most people fail in their fitness goals is that they have good intentions at first to adopt a new lifestyle, yet after a few weeks or months, they abandon their good intentions and slip right back into their old bad habits that gave them the excess body fat in the first place.

I want to help you succeed in finally getting rid of that extra abdominal fat that is not only UGLY, but also DANGEROUS.

Don’t waste another day allowing that nasty abdominal fat to kill your confidence as well as contribute to your risk for MAJOR diseases.

Get the solution to rid yourself for life of this problem at…

Abdominal Six Pack Development

Feb 15 2010 Published by Lose 20 pounds fast under Lose 20 pounds fast

Abdominal six pack programs have been available for a long time but it is still not being done correctly. The main issues will be repeated here.

In the first instance it is worth mentioning that attempting to spot reduce around he abdominal area will not work. Many people start looking for ways to lose their belly fat and begin by exercising their abdominal six pack muscles without exercising any other muscles in the hope that they will miraculously appear. They don’t think about their legs, or arms, or back and just hit the abdominals hard.

This has little benefit because of the small relative muscle size which does not use many calories and will therefore provide very limited advantage in losing fat.

In order to show off the abs the fat needs to be eliminated, and there are better ways of doing this than exercising the abs themselves. Of course the abdominals will benefit from some exercise but a high concentration on this muscle group is not necessary for good progress. It is better to concentrate on increasing the load on the abdominal six pack muscles and to keep the number of repetitions relatively short, at under 25.

As the abs are able to handle increased load they will start to develop and will show up once the fat covering is eliminated. Many other core strength exercises also exercise the abs indirectly and so direct exercise of the abs is only required to be modest.

Exercises that involve the legs with weight on the upper body will exercise the ab muscles very effectively. Routines that involve deadlifts and squats will be great for this as will standing and seated presses, pulldowns, dumbbell pullovers, stiff-arm pushdowns, cross-bench dumbbell pullovers, and tricep pushdowns all engage the abdominal six pack muscles in a very effective way.

Belly fat in particular needs to be eradicated if the abdominal six pack is to be seen. Consideration needs to be given to a balanced exercise and nutrition regime geared towards eliminating the fat layer, and not just concentrating on the abdominals.

The training program needs to be balanced and regular so that all body parts are exercised, with aspects of both weight training and cardio, combined with a good diet and results will start to show.

Lose Belly Fat - Number 1 Workout Program for Your Abs

Dec 14 2009 Published by Lose 20 pounds fast under Lose 20 pounds fast

Starting off with the proper workout program is imperative if you’re looking to lose belly fat fast. There are just certain exercises that really reap the most benefits – in this case, build muscle efficiently. It can seem a bit overwhelming at the beginning, especially if you have no idea where to start. But don’t fret!

It’s possible to lose belly fat; I’m proof of that. All you need are the proper tools, excellent reference like six pack abs reviews, and some guidance. That’s exactly what you’re getting today.

Believe me when I say that I’ve had my share of aggravations in the past. The right workout plan didn’t just show up on my doorstep one day. To help you launch your own fitness program, I wish to share the #1 total workout program that really helped me lose belly fat for good:

1. A Nutritionally Packed and Well-Balanced Diet.

You’ve heard it before, I’m sure, but I couldn’t emphasize this fact hard enough. We all need to be aware what foods we consume on a regular basis. Knowing and understanding the role of nutrients in your workout will only get you to your goal much faster.

The best diet basically consists of meals that are low in processed or refined carbs, packed with protein, and adequately supplied by healthy fats. Carbs provide you with energy while protein is responsible for conditioning muscle. Healthy fats (e.g. nuts, avocado, soybeans) can actually help get rid of excess body fat and control your cholesterol levels.

2. A Combination of Full Body Workouts and Abs Targeting Exercises.

It’s true that core-specific exercises will grind those hard-to-reach abdominal muscles. That doesn’t mean you can disregard full body workouts, which are responsible for building other muscles and your body’s resistance. To ensure that you’re getting a well-rounded workout, it would be best to carry out full body exercises (e.g. yoga, weight lifting, sports) together with high-intensity six pack abs workout routines  (e.g. crunches, sit ups, bicycles).

3. Regular Exercise Program.

Your body has its limits, so you really can’t push it too hard. Working out every other day will avoid any injuries or muscle fatigue. Don’t hesitate to try new things and incorporate various kinds of physical activity in between workout days. This will provide your body enough time to recuperate from any muscle strains.

4. Taking Necessary Breaks after Consecutive Workout Weeks.

Taking a week off after training hard consecutively for 12 weeks should give your body the chance to recharge, relax, and reboot. Don’t think for one second that your body will just go back to being out of shape once you’ve taken a week off from working out. For as long as you keep your diet balanced, you’ll be fine.

Just like any overworked piece of machinery, allowing your muscles to mend from the past 12 weeks of rigorous work will prepare them for even more intense training later on. Meanwhile, you also give your joints, connective tissues, and even your mind a long-deserved time off.

I know from personal experience that this program will help you greatly in your quest to lose belly fat. The ultimate truth about abs: by just following these 4 basic techniques, you can get ripped abs. This program not only strives to get you a well-defined physique, but it also promotes overall wellness and strength development. Go ahead and get the body you truly deserve!

Just think about it, if these fads really do work, why in the world are there so many being created and marketed to the public every single day. Think if even just some of them worked word would spread and there would be much less reason for new diets, fad products and excercise equipment to be released.

You can have all the new fad diets, systems and exercise equipment to help you attain your quest for six pack abs but really it simply comes down to the fact that you need to reduce your total body fat ratio to about 10% or less. Rules to being a Man of Fitness

May 25 2009 Published by Lose 20 pounds fast under Lose 20 pounds fast

Be A Man of Fitness

Fitness is the essence of a man. Fitness is the ability of a person to do his normal everyday tasks with full alertness and vigor without worrying about fatigue afterward and with extra energy in reserve which can be useful when emergencies arise or during recreation and leisure. Overall fitness is what every man must try to achieve as their primary goal. In fitness, no-one is ever too young or too old for improvement. And one of the main things that Men love to get is that ever elusive six pack. Here is one of the programs that you can get to rock hard abs - Beyond Six Pack Abs

One’s fitness can be improved by ngaging in aerobic exercises and through strength training. Every man must focus on three components of overall fitness on working out in order to be in healthy, tip-top shape. These are cardiovascular work, strength training and of course, these should be takeb with a healthy diet.

Staying strong by building muscles. Man’s fitness regimen should include a work out routine which aims to build the muscles. Aging causes a decline in muscle mass of five to seven pounds (2-3.2 kgs) of muscle for every 10 years in one's adult life given that he lives an inactive lifestyle. Truthfully, the saying "use it or lose it" is very applicable to the muscles. There is a good solution to this, fortunately. The loss of muscle mass can be replaced by engaging in strength training.

Improvement of Man's fitness by cardiovascular workout. Flexibility exercises, strength training and cardiovascular workout surely help boost a man's fitness and all these should be part of a man's work out scheme. But out of all these, cardio work is the most necessary. Exercises under cardiovascular work conditions and develops the cardiovascular system and also works out the big muscle groups.

Thus if a man does not have much time for working out, devoting whatever free time he might have to aerobic exercises would do him fine. He might have to pass out on developing the biceps but so long as cardiovascular work out exercises are done, then the blood pressure, heart and cholesterol levels will be fine to keep you staying happy and healthy.

The essence of nutrition to man's fitness. It is best as well as well recommended to eat whole and natural foods frequently than do it on large amounts in one to three sittings. Always mix it up when doing the shopping. This will mean that one is getting most if not all of the nutrients and minerals needed by the body to keep fit and healthy. Ensure you keep the three important macronutreints in the diet; these are carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Prioritize proteins though over carbohydrates but never exclude any one of the three on some fad diet.

Some tips in keeping a man’s fitness level high, efficient and safe:

1.) Drink a lot of water all through out the day, especially when working out.

2.) Do exercises properly using the correct techniques, whether it is weight lifting or aerobic exercises. Always understand and read, and follow of course, the instructions outlined by the personal trainer.

3.) Make sure the is always a spotter when lifting weights.

4.) Challenge the muscles, but ensure that it's kept safe.

5.) Prior to working ou, stretch and warm-up and cool-down gradually after sessions.

6.) Check that the equipment is safe before using them.

7.) It is better to do less than over do the whole thing. Overtraining will exhaust enthusiasm and kill performance.

Want a 6 Pack? Here’s How To Get It

May 25 2009 Published by Lose 20 pounds fast under Lose 20 pounds fast

What most people do not realize is that learning how to get a 6 pack is really not that hard.
The problem that everyone seems to have is that they put all of their focus into the wrong areas. As an example of one important area let’s take lower abs exercises.
The problem at the end is that altohugh so much time and money were invested, no real progress is made.
Take the advice here about how to get a 6 pack the right way and you’ll finally see success.
Let’s get you started with the following fact - your muscle abs are hidden under whatever belly fat you have.
What this means is that it doesn’t matter if you have the strongets and leanest abdominal muscles in the world - if they are covered with fat, they are virtually invisible?
So, what this means is that your abdominal muslces are still not visable due to the fact that they are covered with a fat lawer.
Because of that, it’s even more importan to get rid of that stubborn belly fat than it is to build muscle, so that your progress is shown.
This has to be done through two ways, by changing your nutritional program and by burning off extra calories through your workouts.
To effectively change your diet you can try a favorite cutting down strategy that doesn’t require you to go hungry or avoid your favorite foods.
On the days that you work out, eat your recommended calorie total, whatever total would not have you gaining or losing weight.
On days you don’t work out, cut that total by 20%. So if you eat 2,500 calories normally, eat that amount every day you hit the gym or perform other rigorous exercise, and shoot for about 2,000 on days you don’t.
If you still aren’t losing weight, you can then reduce every day to the inactive day calorie totals.
Of course learning how to get a 6 pack also incorporates exercising, and as mentioned you will need to burn off a lot of those extra calories in this fashion.
You’re going to have to start doing cardio, or start doing more of it if you already are.
All this doesn’t necesserily mean you have to use a treadmill for many hours, you just need to find ways to burn calories in other activities.
When you are lifting weights, you can make tweaks to your program so that you torch more calories in the process.
For example, you can incorporate supersets, which are two exercises of opposing muscle groups (biceps and triceps, quadriceps and hamstrings, etc) right after one another with no rest.
This will increase your heart pulse and your breathing.
You can also opt to try circuit training for your weightlifting, which will keep your metabolism revving on all cylinders.
Don’t waste any of your money on the latest abs machines you see on TV at 2 in the morning.
Don’t waste hour after hour in the gym working out but not eating right.
Get your diet into check and then compliment that with a workout strategy that will torch calories and build strength. To conclude, using a good six pack abs exercise routing will help you get there.
